You will be part of the internal medicine team as an infectious disease specialist with a focus on both outpatient and inpatient services as well as providing clinical support to our infection prevention and control service.

We are looking for a consultant who brings specialist clinical skills, but also someone who will take that clinical leadership within our multidisciplinary teams to ensure we provide a patient-centered approach across infectious diseases and infection prevention and control.

As a leading member of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, this role provides advice to all multidisciplinary teams and management on medical decisions programs relating to infection control. This position does have a focus on both outpatient and inpatient work but will also provide consultation support for the wider health provision (secondary and primary care) and will be a crucial part of our service development through facility upgrades, new building and process reengineering.

What can we offer? Real work-life balance, diverse, dynamic, and supportive team that is dedicated time to develop portfolio interest or invest time in CME, ongoing training and development opportunities.

This role will not have general medicine responsibilities, but there is opportunity to be part of a general medicine on-call roster, if you choose.

Our team actively encourage work-life balance, and the North Island of New Zealand is ideally situated for those who like to work, rest and play – beaches close by, ski fields and wineries just up the road, stunning scenery with loads of hiking tracks including Te Arapuke mountain bike track. Our region also offers excellent schools and a local university.

Applicants must be eligible in internal medicine with specialist training/qualification in infectious diseases.
