  • Ongoing assignment — primarily inpatient with some outpatient coverage
  • 12 patients per shift; call: 8 – 12 patients per 24 hours
  • Beeper call — 1/8 ratio with 30-minute response time
  • Inpatient and outpatient practice setting
  • Upper and lower GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, and liver biopsy required
  • PEG, esophageal dilatation/manometry, and small bowel biopsy required
  • Sengstaken/Blakemore tube insertion and management required
  • ERCP not required
