North Island coastal hospital is looking to employ a general physician to join their department of medicine, currently providing general internal medicine inpatient and outpatient services, plus a range of subspecialty services to a population of approximately 260,000. There is the opportunity to also undertake planned care in your subspecialist area of practice.
Hospital runs a busy acute general medical service with support from resident specialists in cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology, endocrinology, rheumatology, infectious diseases, geriatrics, oncology, hematology, and renal services.
The successful candidate will join a department of 18 physicians who share general medical responsibilities and will lead a team which includes a registrar and a house officer. The role includes participation in acute medical assessment, admission, and on-call roster. There are teaching opportunities across undergraduate (years 4 - 6) and postgraduate (basic and advanced trainees) medicine.
