Go for a hike – and a swim – on the Gubara Pools Walk

While Kakadu National Park is full of opportunities for locum tenens to experience the Australian landscape, one of the most refreshing attractions in the park is the Gubara Pools Walk.

This walk allows hikers to go for an exciting stroll along a 3.7-mile path that takes them past some of Kakadu's most scenic sandstone cliffs. The grade of the trail is moderately steep, so it provides visitors with enough of a challenge to make it exciting without being so difficult that it excludes leisure travelers.

The most appealing part of the walk, however, comes at the end when travelers reach the trail's namesake monsoon forest pools. These natural bodies of water allow hikers to go for a refreshing dip at the end of their excursion, while those who want to stay on dry land can still enjoy looking at the myriad of colorful butterflies that make their home in the surrounding woodlands.

To get to the start of the Gubara Pools Walk, tourists must go to Kakadu's Nourlangie parking lot. From there, they should take the first road on the right, where they will find the beginning of the trail after driving around 5.6 miles. Hikers should set aside approximately four hours to complete their trip to the Gubara Pools.
