Hike through the coastal landscape of Nightcap National Park

Locum tenens who want to explore one of Australia's lushest ecosystems should pay a visit to Nightcap National Park, a scenic reserve located in New South Wales.

Covering approximately 31 square miles in an area north of the town of Linmore, Nightcap is situated on the southern edge of the Mount Warning volcanic caldera. It is included as part of the Shield Volcanic Group of the "Gondwana Rainforests of Australia" World Heritage Site laid out by UNESCO and was included in the Australian National Heritage List in 2007.

Travelers who visit the park can see a wide array of endangered flora and fauna. This reserve is the only place on the planet that holds the Nightcap oak and peach myrtle, two trees that are an important part of the area landscape. In addition, the Minyon quandong is another tree species that has only been found once outside the boundaries of the park.

During a visit to Nightcap, tourists can see several stunning waterfalls as well. Minyon Falls is more than 300 feet high, providing hikers with a spectacular sight, while the aptly named Protester Falls was the focus of an important debate over conservation in the 1970s.
