Enjoy the thrills and traditions of Luna Park

Locum tenens looking to enjoy a great time with their families can head to Luna Park, a historic amusement park located on the outskirts of Melbourne.

The fun-filled attraction, which is situated on the foreshore of Port Phillip Bay in the suburb of St. Kilda, first opened its doors on December 13, 1912. In the 100-plus years since then, it has operated almost continuously, welcoming guests of all ages with its thrilling rides and carnival atmosphere.

The most iconic spot at Luna Park is the entrance gate. This large, colorful structure features a large white face, and visitors must walk through its open mouth to get to the rides and attractions that lie within.

Many people who go to Luna Park enjoy going on the Scenic Railway. This ride is the oldest continually operating roller coaster on the planet, dating all the way back to 1911. Unlike more modern coasters, the Scenic Railway requires that a brakesman stand in the middle of each train to help it operate properly.

Another famous attraction is the Magical Carousel, which was constructed in 1913 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company. This ride is considered the "Jewel of the Crown" in Luna Park's heritage, reflecting the development of theme park culture in Australia.
