Spend a week with real-life pirates of the Caribbean

Avast ye locum tenens! While you're in the Caribbean, stop by the Pirates Week Festival for some swashbuckling and merrymaking. It's truly a one-of-a-kind experience.

While pirates were once a common sight in the Caribbean, today, it's now easier to see these buccaneers in the movie theater. Or, you can see them in person at this annual event, which will take place this November.

If this year's Pirates Week is anything like last year's, then the festivities will kick off with a staged invasion by sea. Mock pirates hop off of authentic old-time vessels and come onto land to take the governor captive. Back in the 16th century, you may have had to worry about losing your prized possessions, but today, all you have to be worry about is for is having a good time.

Among the event's activities are pirate costume competitions, games, sports, street dances and the crowning of this year's Festival Queen. You can also sample local cuisine and drinks, marvel at fireworks displays and enjoy a glittering parade.
