Chill out in Christchurch at the International Antarctic Centre

Stop by Christchurch when you take a medical job in New Zealand and stand in the middle of an Antarctic storm, watch little blue penguins or chill out in an ice cave at the International Antarctic Centre.

With Christchurch International Airport nearby, this interactive park is the top attraction in the New Zealand city. The site has seen attendees of all ages come through its doors year-round since 1992, whether just to cool off for the afternoon or experience a climate entirely different from what they're accustomed to.

Every 30 minutes, you can get caught up in the biggest chill at the park: the Antarctic Storm. A psychedelic light show that features blizzard winds of up to 25 mph (40 km/h) will make you feel like you're actually in frozen tundra, so make sure to dust off that winter jacket for this epic adventure.

After cooling off, you can head over to the little blue penguin center and take part in one of their daily feedings at 10:30 a.m. or 3:30 p.m.
