Christchurch is stronger than ever

While past earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand, have rattled the city’s buildings, its citizens’ spirits remain strong.

When you're on locum assignment, take a visit to Christchurch and see how far this city has come in the wake of past earthquakes.

One part of Christchurch that’s booming with energy is the area south of Moorhouse Avenue in the suburb of Addington, which has been dubbed, SoMo. In this up-and-coming neighborhood you’ll find spots like the Addington Coffee Co-Op, where cups of joe are only brewed from Fairtrade beans, and Simo’s Deli, where you can dig into authentic Moroccan cuisine.

Have a hankering for a juicy hamburger? Head to Burgers & Beer Inc. in the Christchurch neighborhood of Sydenham for a 100 percent angus beef patty, or, try something a little different, like a burger made from sheep or deer meat.

In the mood for some live entertainment? Hang around Addington for the next performance at the Court Theatre, which has been entertaining audiences since 1971, and proves that the show must go on at a whole new location.

Cap off your day in Christchurch by grabbing a drink at the appropriately named Revival Container Bar.
