Creativity shines bright in Perth

There's more to Australia's Perth than world-famous wine and prime coastline. Sure, there are vast vineyards and perfect surf but they grow more than just grapes and waves here. They grow creativity, too, and Angove Street is at the forefront. This downtown district is the perfect area to explore and shop while on locum tenens assignment.

Start your day at Milkd on Angove Street, where the coffee is always hot and the friendly staff is constantly smiling. Using essenza coffee, an Arabican blend imported as a green bean (which last much longer than roasted beans), master brewer Mena Samios roasts the beans daily. And with as much care put into inventing the unique names for the coffee drinks as making them ("Jlo" and "Mamma Maria") you'll definitely want to try at least a cup.

Venture farther up Angove and explore the boutiques and businesses along the popular street. Future Shelter is a design studio and workshop that creates products with only environmentally friendly supplies and ingredients. It offers a diverse array of homewares, fashion items and stationery. Owners Adam Coffey and Jane King pull their inspiration from the natural world around them and it's apparent in their handcrafted goods.
