Test the strength of your legs and will at the Bibbulmun Track in Western Australia

Locum tenens on assignment in Australia have a wealth of opportunities to stay healthy while they live and work down under. Yet while most will likely join a gym to stay fit, those who are looking for a challenge to their own fitness while staying in the western metropolis of Perth may want to test their stamina against the lengthy span of the Bibbulmun Track.

Known to locals as "The Bibb," the Bibbulmun Track stretches for nearly 1,000 kilometers from the Kalamunda Hills to the southern coastal town of Albany. The track takes its name from the indigenous Noongar people who populated the area before European settlers came to the region in 1829.

One of the perks of the track is the diverse array of natural settings it allows hikers to see, as the path snakes through large karri and tingle forests, down misty valleys, up through large granite boulder and across one of the country's most beautiful stretches of coastline.

Along the way, campsites dot the trail and mark excellent stopping points for those hoping to go end to end on the trail—an eight-week excursion into the brush that can be a challenge for even the most experienced trekker.
