New Zealand offers great stargazing in the southern hemisphere

If you're a doctor who also loves stargazing, then taking a locum assignment in New Zealand will provide you with a chance to see parts of the galaxy that can only be viewed from the southern hemisphere.

You can set up your telescope in a field, or just lie on the grass and stare at the night sky. While either activity allows you to stargaze, one of the best ways to explore the galaxy without leaving Earth is to visit one of New Zealand’s observatories.

In Auckland, you'll find the Stardome Observatory and Planetarium. A visit to this facility will take you beyond the stars and enhance your understanding of the universe, from its supposed beginnings to its many wonders, such as black holes, according to Stardome’s website.

You never know what you might find when exploring the galaxy via telescope in New Zealand. Recently, an Auckland resident managed to photograph another solar system using his telescope, Fox News reported. The picture, which has been viewed by experienced astronomers, has been called "absolutely amazing."
