Travel back in time at Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre

For doctors on a locum tenens assignments in New Zealand, a visit to the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre will transport any interest you have in aviation to new heights.

Visit this attraction just outside of the town of Blenheim (in the country's famed Marlborough wine region), and take a walk back in time to see many of the aircraft that took to the skies during World War I.

While you're at the museum, don't miss Knights of the Sky, one of the world's largest collections of Great War aircrafts and memorabilia. The display is managed by the 14-18 Aviation Heritage Trust, which is chaired by New Zealand filmmaker Peter Jackson. The acclaimed storyteller (and director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy) has brought his own passion for aviation to his home country: He owns some of the planes on display, plus he's brought his epic flair for creating drama on the silver screen to these theatrically staged dioramas.
