It’s easy to list off a wide array of social media profiles to follow for travel inspiration (@natgeotravel, @chrisburkard and @lebackpacker to name a few) but being a doctor you sometimes need healthcare-related inspiration, too. To hear stories and see photos of other physicians in action – other than your peers of course – can not only educate but also help remind you why you got into practicing medicine in the first place. Here are 5 medical influencers you should follow for daily inspiration (in no particular order).

1) Kevin Pho, MD (@kevinmd)

Kevin Pho, MD offers a wealth of information regarding the medical world as well as tips on how to curate an effective, trustworthy social media presence as a doctor.

2) Scott Weingart, MD (@emcrit)

An ED intensivist hailing from New York you can bet what Scott Weingart, MD has an interest in. His critical care knowledge is enlightening to say the least.

3) Oliver Sacks, MD (@oliversacks)

Not only has Oliver Sacks, MD long been a celebrity in the healthcare field he also wrote many best-selling books (e.g., Awakenings). Sadly he passed away in August 2015 but you can still find an active and insightful Twitter profile.
