Hike Canada. Yeah…all of it.

About the Trail

The Canada Trail is an ambitious public project to create one of the largest trail systems in the world. When complete, the interconnected paths will span the North American continent, traversing Canada and connecting three oceans.

It's an audacious goal to span a continent and link the Atlantic, Arctic and Pacific oceans, but the nonprofit group managing construction of the trail has already realized nearly 80 percent of its vision.

The future is near

The Canada Trail began as a dream in 1992 as part of Canada's 125th year celebration. Even though the trails aren't yet completely connected, Lonely Planet has already included the Trail in its list of 10 amazing Canada adventures.

Over 11,000 of the anticipated 15,000 miles of multi-use trails are complete. Five hundred individual trails, each with their own distinct flavor and appeal, bring Canadians and lucky travelers closer to each other and to the beautiful Canadian wilderness.

Step onto the Trail

Wondering which locum tenens destinations give the best access to exploring The Canada Trail?

Chances are, it really doesn't matter. Access is increasingly common with four of five Canadians living within 30 minutes of the Trail.

Trail information is available in a variety of guidebooks and maps from booksellers and online travel sites. Additionally, the Trans Canada Trail organization hosts an online, interactive map featuring trail highlights and guiding interested users to the closest access points.

By all means, experience the interconnected trail system now. However, if you're the type who likes to plan ahead, the Trans Canada Trail charity intends to complete the coast-to-coast connections by the 25th anniversary of the Trail in 2017.

The Canada Trail is just one more reason to look toward our neighbors to the north for international locum tenens assignments. Get out there and see the world.
