Come face-to-face with a fish at the Sydney Aquarium

Australia is home to some of the world's most spectacular underwater landscapes, and locum tenens who want to experience the country's marine diversity can get a taste when they visit the Sydney Aquarium.

This expansive facility features an array of exhibits designed to expose visitors to each of Australia's most famous aquatic ecosystems. Many of these displays house native wildlife found nowhere else in the world, including the bizarre platypus, endearing little penguin and large barramundi.

Other top attractions include the Mermaid Lagoon, which is home to rare dugongs, and the Great Barrier Reef tank, the largest exhibit of its kind on the planet.

Shark lovers will find plenty to do here, as the Sydney Aquarium features a range of tanks dedicated to the fearsome fish. In the hatchery and nursery, visitors can see baby sharks grow into full-size adults, while the Sharks in Sydney Tunnels exhibit allows guests to see these creatures from below as they walk through clear underwater passageways.

In addition to these popular features, the Sydney Aquarium is also home to displays of winter ocean wildlife, creatures from Australia's rushing rivers and more.
