Learn about historical Hobart at the Narryna Heritage Museum

Many locum tenens enjoy visiting the modern city of Hobart, but you can learn what life was like during the Tasmanian capital's colonial period at the Narryna Heritage Museum.

Located a short walk away from the city center and the famous Salamanca Place neighborhood, this attraction allows guests to step back into the past. The museum is housed in the former home of a prominent Hobart merchant, who oversaw the construction of the building just 33 years after Tasmania was first settled by the British.

Some of the highlights include a constantly rotating gallery of costumes that reflect what colonial women wore as they lived and worked in the city. There are also items that reflect the life of a member of the wealthy upper class as well as items with insight into the lives of the servants.

In 2010, the Narryna Heritage Museum was named Australia's best small museum by ABC Radio National—a stamp of approval that guarantees that travelers will have a fun and educational time when they visit this attraction.
