Relive musical history through the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra

When you are on locum assignment in Australia, make the most of your time abroad and balance adventure with cultural experiences, such as an evening with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

This internationally acclaimed ensemble of musicians first came together in 1906, making them Australia's oldest orchestra. Furthermore, this group is the country's first symphony orchestra to tour outside of the continent, which has helped them gain recognition around the world.

In the orchestra's long history, the ensemble has worked alongside a diverse array of musical legends, such as Igor Stravinsky, the Three Tenors, Ray Charles, Elton John and Frank Sinatra.

As a result, you and your fellow locum tenens will want to make time for one or more of the orchestra's performances. Fortunately, there are a wide variety of events on the horizon, as the orchestra's annual season runs from February through December. For example, in November, you can bring your family or friends to Melbourne Town Hall, where you will hear the music of Russian composer Tchaikovsky. Or, you can purchase tickets for a performance of Handel's The Messiah in December.
