See turtles, mangroves and more at Mon Repos Conservation Park

The Mon Repos Conservation Park, located Down Under, offers an abundance of flora and fauna, especially when it comes to turtles and mangroves (tropical trees and shrubs). Drop by Mon Repos on your locum assignment to see a turtle hatch in the backdrop of a beautiful landscape.

This Queensland attraction’s name originated when the French government owned the land that the conservation park sits on. Here, you'll also find a turtle rookery that contains the largest concentration of marine turtles in Eastern Australia.

When you visit Mon Repos, between the months of November and March, you can catch a glimpse of some of the turtles that have come ashore to lay their eggs. If you show up at the right time, you may even get to see their babies emerge.

You can also see mangroves, a tidal lagoon and the remnants of Woongarra Rainforest. You have the option of hopping on a bicycle or walking along one of the park’s tracks. You'll pass by freshwater ponds, melaleuca forests and the heritage listed stone wall that was constructed in 1884 by South Sea Islanders.
