Art comes to life at Living Room

It's a given that when you visit a new country you'll see something unexpected. For something that's really extraordinary while you're on a locum assignment in New Zealand, cast your eyes on Living Room.

The annual public art event promises to bring an exciting mix of static and moving art to the streets of Auckland's Central Business District. In fact, the Auckland Council Public Art Team puts out an open call for artists who have a vision they would like to share at this annual event, which is set for this coming April.

Each year, Living Room keeps its program fresh by selecting a new curator who decides the overarching theme for the event. In 2011, Andrew Clifford served as curator and decided the theme of Metropolis Dreaming.

The works of visual and performing arts that are on display in Auckland represent different creative mediums, from film and video to performance art. You can expect to see temporary installations and live performances, among examples of high-quality art. If you want to satisfy your artistic side some more, then check out the Public Art in Auckland Facebook page.
