Check out the interactive exhibits at Taupo's Volcanic Activity Centre

New Zealand's geothermal power helps to create some of the country's most dynamic landscapes, and locum tenens can learn more about this natural phenomenon when they visit the Volcanic Activity Centre.

Located in the town of Taupo, the facility is a hands-on interactive attraction designed to teach young and old guests alike about the wonders of the volcanic forces that have shaped the New Zealand landscape.

Visitors to the centre can check out a diverse array of exhibits, including informative wall displays, a jigsaw puzzle featuring the planet's tectonic plates, a live geyser model that demonstrates what happens above and below ground during an eruption, a microscope that magnifies volcanic crystals, a thrilling earthquake simulator, a glass-encased tornado machine and a cinema with footage of erupting volcanoes.

Tourists can also use this attraction as a base for their exploration of the larger Taupo Volcanic Zone, an expansive area that includes some of New Zealand's most geologically active sites. Once they return to the centre, they can pick up a souvenir of their volcanic adventure in the facility's gift shop.
