Dive deep into the natural beauty of Australia

Sure, the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru will probably make it to the top of your "to-do" list when you take a medical job in Australia, but the Land Down Under has so much more to offer than its well-known tourist attractions. The names Pinnacles Desert, Katherine Gorge and Cape York might not immediately ring a bell, but after one visit to these beautiful spots, you'll be singing their praises to every person you meet who plans on traveling to Australia.

Western Australia's Nambung National Park is an oasis of crimson sand dunes, beaches and tropical plants. From August to October, you can see the landscape bursting with colorful flowers, but perhaps the most remarkable section of the arid land is the Pinnacles Desert. These limestone pillars crop up out of the sand in rows, resembling a backdrop that you might see on an alien planet in a sci-fi film.

Katherine Gorge, situated in the Northern Territory in Nitmiluk National Park, is carved by the Katherine River and is essentially what attracts thousands of visitors to this stunning land. If you look closely, you'll see freshwater crocodiles lurking in the waters of the river.
