Reach the edge of Cape Brett for New Zealand's best coastal views

Sometimes, there's no better way to spend some alone time than heading out into the wilderness. The opportunity to do just that when you take a medical job in New Zealand is all around you, from Tongariro Crossing to the Cape Brett Track on the northern North Island coast.

When you head to the Bay of Islands, you'll feel a sense of peace when you first lay your eyes on the grassy cliffs and rocks jutting out into the Pacific Ocean. Running along the ridge of the cape, the trail provides views of lush forests, coastal scenery and dramatic cliff sides. With one look down, you'll see and hear fish, wild birds, and even dolphins and seals that come close to the shoreline.

While the track can be challenging in some spaces, the views you'll see are worth the trek. Above you, trees blooming with Aotearoa's diverse species of wildflowers shade your path, and railways provide extra support when you're turning corners around the steep cliff portions of the hike.
