See the Pinnacles of Western Australia

Western Australia is home to a bevy of spectacular natural attractions, and locum tenens are sure to be wowed when they visit the limestone formations of the Pinnacles.

The Pinnacles are located in the heart of Nambung National Park, near the town of Cervantes. Although scientists agree that they are formed from seashells dating back to a time when the area was underwater, they disagree on how these limestone towers were formed. Some believe that rain cemented lime material into towers underneath tall dunes, while others believe they are the casts of trees that rotted away eons ago.

No matter how they were formed, however, these natural features are a top attraction for travelers in Western Australia. Since they first rose to public awareness in the 1960s, they have become quite popular, now drawing more than a quarter of a million visitors each year.

Visitors to the Pinnacles can marvel at the towers at any time of year, but they are most beautiful between August and October during wildflower season. They are also best spotted during the early morning or late afternoon, as the angle of the sun creates a stunning interplay of colors and shadows.
