Tramp through Australia on a hiking tour

Hiking, or tramping as it is known in Australia, is a favorite of locum tenens. It's a great workout, plus it offers doctors a better understanding of the area. There are a number of trails in Australia that offer beautiful views of the South Pacific.

Visit Tasmania's Cradle Mountain & Lake St. Clair National Park to check out the 50-mile Overland Track. There are day trips that explore the area's tallest mountain, rainforests and alpine forests, as well as the deepest lake in Australia. Locums can opt for a lengthier tour that spans multiple days in order to tramp across the whole trail.

The same goes for the Bicentennial National Trail, where visitors can take a short day tour to various spots to discover mountainous terrain and Australia's wilderness. The 3,100-mile trail is also a prime spot for serious adventure travelers who embark on week-long tours on horseback or with mountain bikes.

Travelers should also consider visiting the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, an UNESCO World Heritage site. See Ayer's Rock and other Aboriginal attractions on a picturesque tour of one of the best tramping trails in the country.
