Check out the collection at the Dowse Art Museum

Locum tenens who want to see the work of New Zealand's premier artists should pay a visit to the Dowse Art Museum, a cultural facility located in the capital city of Wellington.

Although it first opened in 1971, the museum as it is known today came into existence in 2006 thanks to a complete renovation. Visitors who go to the Dowse now encounter an architectural masterpiece famous for its unique aluminum facade, which makes the building energy-efficient and casts interesting shadows inside.

Inside, you'll find 11 exhibition spaces, several multipurpose activity areas, a courtyard, a cafe and a shop. The Dowse's primary collection consists of more than 3,000 works, most of which fall in the realm of the decorative arts.

The museum also stages a wide range of activities that appeal to guests of all ages. Adults looking to relax can attend a cocktail hour or a concert by leading jazz and soul artists, while children are invited to the Dowse to decorate cupcakes, make honor badges and create fun arts and crafts projects.
