Converging old and new art in Tasmania

When you take a medical job in Australia, you can take your passion for the arts to a new level at the Museum of Old and New Art in Hobart, Tasmania. Theatre of the World, a new exhibit curated by Jean Martin and Tijs Visser, is a collaborative effort between this Hobart institution and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.

Featuring pieces by Picasso, Kandinsky, Basquiat and the Chapman brothers, the compilation is one of the most impressive that the museum has seen to date. Until August of 2013, this kaleidoscope of artistic displays will take the center stage, allowing you to peruse each work of art and then spend the evening within the comfortable accommodations of the museum.

The hotel pavilions are artistic masterpieces in and of themselves, each possessing a theme that focuses on one particular architectural style and artist's influence. The one- or two-bedroom spaces also house small collections of artwork that you can browse at your leisure when you stay here.

If these offerings are still not enough, you can head to one of the onsite bars or enjoy a cellar tasting at the museum's underground wine storehouse.
